Automated IoT devices produce significant data, making them vulnerable to botnet attacks. Traditional centralized AI models for detecting these attacks compromise privacy and are less effective against zero-day threats. This paper introduces a federated learning framework with a novel aggregation algorithm for detecting zero-day botnet attacks, enhancing privacy and performance. Tests on the N-BaIoT dataset show superior results compared to existing methods.
